Galveston Woman Who Set Ex-Boyfriend On Fire Is Arrested

GALVESTON, TX — A woman accused of setting her former boyfriend on fire on Nov. 28, surrendered to Galveston Police.

Nancy Allen, 50, turned herself in on Monday night and is being held in the Galveston County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond on a charge of aggravated assault.

Allen is accused of throwing a flammable object on Theolonious Haley, and setting his clothing on fire.

Police received a 911 call from Haley at about 6 a.m. on Nov. 28, and reported that he’d been set on fire.

When fire and EMS arrived at Haley’s home in the 500 block of 21st Street, they found him suffering from burns to his hands and face, and with part of his clothing still burning.

He was taken to John Sealy Hospital in Galveston where he underwent hours of reconstructive surgery.

Haley was able to provided investigators with information that led to Allen.

Investigators said Allen had been Haley’s apartment several hours before the incident, and that she had argued with both Haley and his girlfriend, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Allen left the apartment after the fight.

Several hours later, Allen allegedly lured Haley outside by turning the power to his apartment was turned off,.

Haley went outside to investigate and turn the power back on.

The power was turned off again, and when Haley went back outside, Allen allegedly threw a flaming object at him.

The relationship between Haley and Allen has been one that’s been fraught with tension that included several instances of family violence that resulted in a conviction earlier this year, the Chronicle reported.

Haley remains hospitalized from his injuries.

If Allen is convicted, she faces a possible sentence of 5-99 years in prison.
