Feds Halt Aerial Mosquito Spraying Due to Wet Weather
The Department of Defense began spraying large areas of Montgomery, Harris and surrounding counties to kill off adult mosquitoes.

CONROE, TX — Efforts by the Department of Defense to curtail the exploding mosquito population with aerial spraying have been temporarily halted because of the recent wet weather.
Aircraft from San Antonio’s Kelly Air Force Base have been conducting aerial mosquito spraying in Montgomery and surrounding counties since Sept. 15.
Aircraft were unable to conduct mosquito spraying operations on Wednesday and hoped to be airborne to conduct more spraying on Thursday, the Conroe Courier reported.

On Sept. 14, Montgomery County Judge Craig Doyal announced that federal authorities would be conducting aerial spraying through Sept. 20, between the hours of dusk until dawn.

Officials advised staying indoors and bring pets inside, as well as covering any beekeeping colonies.
Aircraft have been spraying Naled, an insecticide that is used to treat adult mosquitoes, which has a nerve agent harmful to humans, animals, and insects other than mosquitoes.
