Conroe resumes impact fee study for water, wastewater and roadway projects (communityimpact.com) — Conroe city leaders have restarted a detailed study that could make new developments pay one-time impact fees to help fund future water, wastewater, and road projects. Consultants are updating growth projections and project lists now, with a public process and possible fee adoption hearings expected in 2027, potentially shaping how fast-growing neighborhoods share infrastructure costs. 
2. Bond projects near completion in Conroe, Montgomery, Willis ISDs (communityimpact.com) — New and expanded Conroe ISD campuses and facilities are racing toward completion, bringing fresh classrooms, ag facilities, and major Conroe High renovations online as soon as this month. From new schools in Conroe and Spring to upgraded support centers in Montgomery and Willis, these bond-funded projects aim to ease overcrowding and modernize learning spaces across the region.
3. Governor Abbott Appoints Hansen To 523rd Judicial District In Montgomery County (texas.gov) — A Conroe resident, prosecutor Donna Hansen, has been appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to serve as judge of Montgomery County's new 523rd Judicial District Court starting September 1, 2026. Hansen, a longtime assistant district attorney in Montgomery and Harris counties, brings extensive experience in criminal justice and child welfare work that will shape how serious local cases are handled.
4. The Woodlands Diversion announces 2026-27 season (communityimpact.com) — A new season of live music is headed to venues in both The Woodlands and Conroe, with several concerts set at Lone Star College Montgomery on College Park Drive. From Latin jazz and holiday classics to Motown-meets-Mozart mashups, The Woodlands Diversion's 2026-27 lineup offers affordable performances and even free outdoor shows running through May.
5. Ray Thomas Hebert MD (americanpress.com) — Conroe readers may remember Dr. Ray Thomas Hebert, who once led radiology at Montgomery County Hospital in Conroe and later worshiped at St. James Episcopal Church. The longtime physician and veteran, who ultimately settled in Montgomery, is remembered for his medical leadership, love of learning, and devotion to family, with a private memorial planned at his church.
