Montgomery County Animal Shelter Finding Record Number of Forever Homes For Former Strays
The Home for the Holidays promotion waives the standard $80 adoption fee for up to 500 animals, has resulted in over 150 adoptions.

SPRING, TX -- One of Charles Jackson’s newest promotions this holiday season has resulted in about 150 former stray animals finding that forever home, just in time for Christmas.
The Home for the Holidays promotion, which continues through Dec. 24, waives the standard $80 adoption fee for up to 500 animals, has resulted in over 150 adoptions in just the last three days.
Jackson, who was named the director of the Montgomery County Animal Shelter earlier this month, talked about this program during a meet and greet session hosted on Thursday at the Mercedes-Benz The Woodlands dealership, and shared a bit of his vision for the shelter moving forward.

"People ask me all the time, 'Charles, are we going to be a no kill shelter?'" said Jackson. "What I tell them is a very strong maybe, and that maybe depends on the community, it's not up to me. A no-kill community has a no-kill shelter, that's what happens."
Jackson said the adoption process is no different through the Home for the Holidays special except the fees for vaccinations, spay or neutering and microchips are all waived. All animals must be spayed or neutered before leaving the shelter.

Meanwhile, Montgomery County Commissioner James Noack said he is excited to see the progress that Jackson has made at the shelter in such a minimal amount of time.
"I am so excited that Montgomery County's Commissioners Court selected who we believe is the finest man to run the animal shelter," Noack said. “With the right leader, the true spirit of this community can be harnessed and animals saved. In one week Charles Jackson has inspired this entire community, employees believe in him, and the lives of animals are being saved. Thank you!”
