Using recent data on test scores, graduation, and college and career readiness, the lists highlight which campuses are leading the way and where gaps remain.

Here's how Corpus Christi's tax rate compares to other Texas cities (caller.com subscription) — Corpus Christi homeowners face a proposed property tax rate of about 59.9 cents per $100 valuation, ranking fifth among Texas' eight largest cities. City Council has capped the rate at the current level for now, with key public hearings and votes scheduled in early September that will determine next year's final rate and budget support.

Esperanza de Tejas seeking professionals to mentor youth at upcoming leadership summit (kiiitv.com) — A Corpus Christi nonprofit is recruiting local professionals and volunteers to mentor students at the free Lead con Esperanza Youth Summit on Oct. 17. Corpus Christi water restrictions, dual desalination proposals headline Tuesday council meeting (kristv.com) — Corpus Christi's water rules may soon change as Council Member Eric Cantu presses city leaders to ease restrictions from Stage 2 to Stage 1 despite staff caution. At the same time, dueling desalination plans for Inner Harbor and Harbor Island will come before council on September 1, shaping the city's long-term water supply.

Corpus Christi moving forward with Evangeline Water Project (kiiitv.com) — Corpus Christi's Evangeline water project is mired in a legal fight with Sinton over groundwater pumping, even as city leaders push construction forward. Council members warn the contested case could drag on for two to six years, potentially driving up costs while the city waits to secure permits and clarify its future water supply.
