With the 2021 John Sasso National Community Development Week Award, NCDA recognized Fort Worth’s marketing and social media efforts. The campaign highlighted the programs and services as well as community development projects undertaken over the last year utilizing CDBG and HOME funds, including park improvements, multifamily housing developments and social service programs. The week's highlights included a focus on the Community Development Council, the City Council-appointed, resident advisory board that works with the Neighborhood Services Department in reviewing proposed plans and projects and making funding recommendations to City Council for approval.
“Our team -- which includes Sean Stanton, planner; Luz Earley, management analyst; and Michael Vega, marketing coordinator -- is passionate about the work we do serving the residents of Fort Worth,” said Sharon Burkley, Neighborhood Services Department senior planner. “We were excited to have the opportunity to showcase all of our great programs and services. We had a proclamation issued by the City Council, a video of our programs and services, and an interview with our director, Victor Turner. Facebook posts were uploaded each day during Development Week, and we ended the week with a post highlighting our CDC members and their efforts to assist us. It’s gratifying to be able to reach and help so many Fort Worth residents.”
