Their deaths, along with Ochre House Theater founder Matthew Posey's passing, have left local colleagues grieving the loss of artists they saw as vital to Dallas' creative future.

2. Proposed property tax increase promises to be top of mind in Dallas County District 2 Commissioner's race (wfaa.com) — Dallas County voters, including those in Dallas, will soon decide Proposition A, a five-year property tax increase aimed at funding homelessness services, while also facing a separate commissioner-approved tax hike. District 2 candidates Andy Sommerman and Barry Wernick sharply disagree on the measure's cost, alternatives like HUD grants, and how to ensure accountability if it passes.

3. Dallas driver dead after car veers off road and flips – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth (nbcdfw.com) — A driver died late Thursday night after their car veered off North Walton Walker Boulevard near Singleton Road in Dallas, hit a parked vehicle, and flipped, ejecting the driver. Surveillance from a nearby auto glass shop captured the violent crash, leaving the business's car destroyed but no additional injuries, as Dallas police continue investigating the cause.

4. Which Texas TV news station is the best? Insiders weighed in (lmtonline.com) — Viewers in Dallas may be pleased to hear that WFAA was rated the top TV newsroom in Texas by more than 270 industry professionals in a recent informal survey. The Dallas station also ranked among the top five in the nation, underscoring its strong reputation alongside other major outlets in Houston and Austin.

5. James Talarico appears at Austin City Limits, nine days after he was last seen publicly on campaign trail (cbsnews.com) — Dallas residents will soon see U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico back in town for a Sunday fundraiser after he recently sought flu treatment at an urgent care in the city. His brief illness-related absence from the campaign trail drew online speculation, but he reappeared Friday at Austin City Limits and plans to resume in-person events statewide as early voting nears.
