FWC appoints Steve Montgomery as new CEO following nationwide search

Fort Worth, Texas - The Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce (FWC) has recently made a public announcement that has roused the interest of North Texas's business fraternity. The Chamber unveiled its decision to entrust Steve Montgomery, a distinguished professional, with the role of its new Chief Executive Officer.
The announcement ensued after an extensive nationwide search and a scrupulous selection procedure, designed to pinpoint an extraordinary leader. The individual selected is expected to guide the Chamber in realizing its ambition of promoting business growth, enhancing economic development, and advocating for the Fort Worth business community, Dallas Metro News reported.
With over three decades of involvement in both the public and private sectors, Montgomery brings an array of knowledge and skills to the table. His extensive experience in executive leadership, strategic planning, stakeholder management, and business administration positions him as an ideal candidate to steer the Chamber towards a path of growth and achievement.

In the period leading up to his appointment, Montgomery provided consulting services in government relations and strategic communications to a diverse clientele in North Texas. The Chamber itself was among the beneficiaries of his expertise.
The appointment of Montgomery as the new CEO was met with great enthusiasm by Rosa Navejar, the Chair of the Fort Worth Chamber Board of Directors.

“We are thrilled to have Steve Montgomery join us as the new CEO of the Fort Worth Chamber,” said Rosa Navejar, according to the press release. “Steve’s extensive experience and deep roots in the community make him an ideal candidate to lead our organization. We believe his strategic vision and commitment to fostering business growth will greatly benefit the Fort Worth business community,” Navejar further added.
“Our search committee, led by Lonnie Nicholson, past chair of the Chamber, did an incredible job of identifying a strong slate of candidates and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results.”
In his role as CEO, Montgomery will collaborate with the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership (FWEDP) and the City of Fort Worth, focusing on key areas such as workforce development, infrastructure and transportation, business retention, and government relations advocacy.
Montgomery will also lead the Chamber's membership development initiatives, striving to broaden and strengthen its member base. By offering networking opportunities, access to research and resources, and advocating for its members, the Chamber aims to enhance its value for businesses of varying sizes within Fort Worth.

Mike Berry, who held the position of interim CEO of the FWC following the departure of former president Brandom Gengelbach, voiced his confidence in Montgomery's leadership. Berry asserted, “My time at the Chamber has only reinforced my belief that it is an amazing organization and now, with Steve at the helm to lead the team, we are positioned to make an even larger impact on the Fort Worth business community.”
Montgomery will officially assume his duties as CEO on July 31, 2023.
