July 4th Events Impact Traffic, Cause Road Closures In Dallas

Plan ahead if you're planning to travel on these roads Tuesday or Wednesday.

DALLAS, TX — Various roads will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday in Dallas during Independence Day festivities, the City of Dallas announced today. The closures could cause traffic or delays to some drivers. Commuters expecting to pass through these areas should plan an alternate route.

Tuesday's Closure:

Commuters passing through the area of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge will see closures and delays starting at noon Tuesday.

The event, "Red, White & Boom" will close westbound lanes of Woodall Rogers Freeway, specifically on the bridge, from noon to 2 a.m. Wednesday.

An estimated 8,000 people are expected to attend the event, which begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m.

Wednesday's Closure"

Five on the Fourth, a special Independence Day 5K run beginning and ending at Klyde Warren Park on Wednesday will lead to various partial and full lane closures in the arts district.

Some 2,000 people are expected to attend this event between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon Wednesday. Plan your routes ahead of time so as to avoid significant delays or backups.

Closures will include:

  • Westbound service road of Woodall Rodgers Freeway from Saint Paul Street to Akard Street
  • Akard Street from Woodall Rogers Freeway to Cedar Springs Road
  • Cedar Springs Road/Turtle Creek Boulevard from Akard Street to Fitzhugh Avenue
