Lime Rolls Out Game To Round Up Rogue Scooters
'Parked or Not' resembles popular dating apps, but instead of choosing potential lovers, users will pinpoint problematic parking.

DALLAS, TX — It's no secret that the users of rental bicycles and motorized scooters have a habit of incorrect parking. In an effort to curb the habit and tidy up the city's sidewalks, Lime announced on July 25 that the organization was releasing a game to help users identify improperly parked items.
The game, titled "Parked Or Not" is not unlike the popular dating app Tinder. Except instead of swiping through singles seeking love, users will be swiping through photos of scooters, some overturned and others upright.
Lime's first approach to curbing haphazard parking practices was to require users to upload photographs of their properly parked scooters. Once the photos are uploaded and analyzed, the photos will go to "Parked or Not," where users will see randomized photos, allowing them to anonymously select whether the scooter has been parked correctly or incorrectly. Lime said data gained from the game will help the company to:
- Identify users who park scooters incorrectly, provide feedback on their parking and offer additional resources to help them understand how to properly park a scooter
- Encourage engaged riders to take an active role in educating fellow users in their communities
- Use statistical models to provide real-time feedback and develop machine learning to enhance the accuracy of future ratings
"The next step is to develop statistical models that help us identify positive and negative behavior,” added Christophe Chong, Lime’s Head of Growth. “With high engagement, we can even begin incentivizing users to park in a way that keeps their ratings up and communities happy.”
