Man Arrested In Arlington With $30,000 Worth Of Drugs, Cash
More than 30 bottles of promethazine, or prescription cough syrup with codeine used to make 'lean,' were recovered in the arrest.

ARLINGTON, TX — A man arrested in Arlington on Nov. 21, 2017, had in his car more than 30 bottles of promethazine, a potent ingredient in prescription strength cough syrup. Officers also seized more than 3,000 Xanax pills, other narcotic drugs and cash, according to a statement.
Police seized enough promethazine to make 4,730 bottles of cough syrup from the car of Jalen Warren, 25. Promethazine is used to make a drug concoction often referred to as "purple drank" or "lean."
According to drugabuse.com, the mixture is made with cough medicine, soft drinks and hard, fruit-flavored candy. The cough syrups often contain codeine, a highly addictive opiate. An overdose of this drink can be deadly, especially when combined with alcohol or other drugs.
