Overnight Shootings Leave Two Injured In Dallas

One person was shot in a squabble over loud music; a man's father-in-law was struck by a bullet in an incident in northwest Dallas.

DALLAS, TX — One person was injured around 10:50 p.m. in Highland Meadows in an apparent squabble over one person's loud music.

Police spoke with a witness, who said she was outside and listening to music with the shooting suspect in the 12800 block of Jupiter Road, near I-635.

Police said the woman was approached by several people, one of whom was holding a baseball bat, who told her she and the suspect were being too loud.

Police said the suspect had left the area and gone inside his apartment prior to the confrontation. When he returned, he saw the group of people surrounding the woman and insisted they leave.

The situation escalated, and the suspect pulled a gun, firing several shots into the ground, police said. One shot ricocheted off the ground and struck one person in the leg.

Everyone involved left the scene and rushed inside their respective apartments, police said. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where his or her condition remains unknown.

One man was shot around 4:40 a.m. Tuesday in northwest Dallas, near Love Field Airport, in what is presumably an attempted carjacking gone wrong.

Police said one man was waiting in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 3535 Webb Chapel Extension when an armed man approached his car and demanded that he get out of the car.

At the time of the incident, the man in the car was waiting for his father-in-law, who had just entered the parking lot.

Police said the suspect fired a shot toward the man's father-in-law, striking him in the arm.

Several more shots then rang out from the suspect's car by an unknown passenger.

Police said the suspect ran to his vehicle and fled the scene. The father-in-law was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His condition remains unknown.
