Security Guards Charged With Murder Following Shooting
The shooting happened early New Year's Day in a parking lot serving XTC Cabaret.

DALLAS, TX -- Two security guards have been charged with murder following a shooting early New Year's Day that left a 34-year-old man dead. The shooting occurred at 2:56 a.m. in a parking lot servicing XTC Cabaret, located at 8500 N. Stemmons Freeway. According to the Dallas Police Department, the parking lot was being used as overflow parking for the nightclub which was hosting a New Year’s Eve event.
An altercation occurred in the parking lot involving Jason Hill who got into his white pick-up truck and attempted to leave, the Dallas Morning News reported.
"Several unarmed and armed security officers, from the neighboring nightclub, intervened and attempted to stop the victim from leaving. When the victim backed up and attempted to leave ignoring their commands," DPD said in a news release.

Security officers Daterrious Haggard, 25, and Eric Hansen, 27, allegedly fired their weapons multiple times into Hill's truck, DPD added. Hill was shot and crashed into several parked vehicles before dying, DPD said. He was shot more than 20 times, the Morning News said.
Haggard and Hansen were detained by police.

"After being read their Miranda rights, they both waived those rights by agreeing to speak with detectives. They both admitted firing their weapon at the victim. During the course of the investigation, detectives were made aware of and reviewed a video circulating on social media that captured a significant portion of the incident. Based on their interview, the social media video and witness testimony, Haggard and Hansen were both arrested and will be charged with murder," DPD added.
