RICHARDSON, TX — A 26-year-old man accused of murdering a police officer in a shooting at an apartment complex in Richardson Wednesday evening now sits in Collin County Jail on a charge of Capital Murder of a Peace Officer.

The suspected shooter, Brandon De McCall, was at large for more than an hour, KDFW reported. Finally, police and SWAT officers found him holed up in an apartment unit. From there, a standoff that lasted almost three hours ensued.

Reporters on scene reported hearing volleys of gunfire ricocheting through the apartment complex as police worked to subdue the man late into the night. Finally, around midnight, McCall was arrested and taken to a waiting ambulance, all the while screaming "I'm sorry," video from the scene shows.
