Texas Ranked Among The Least Charitable States In America
The most charitable state in the U.S. was Minnesota, followed by Utah, according to a new analysis by Wallethub.

DALLAS, TX -- While everything may be bigger in Texas, that doesn't include its philanthropic ambitions. Texas ranked 43 out of 50 on Wallethub's Most Charitable States ranking for 2018. The organization ranked each state across 18 key indicators of charitable behavior, including volunteer rate, share of income donated, and share of sheltered homeless, Wallethub stated.
The indicators were determined using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, National Center for Charitable Statistics, and the Internal Revenue Service, among other sources. The least charitable state was Nevada and the most charitable was Minnesota. Yet taken as a whole, Americans rank fourth out of 140 countries in terms of charitable giving, Wallethub reported.
"Nearly 63 million people volunteer in the U.S., serving a combined total of 7.9 billion hours per year, the equivalent of $184 billion of service," Wallethub added.
