Your March Primary Ballot: Voting In Dallas
Early voting for the March 2018 primaries begins Tuesday. Here's what you might see on your ballot.

DALLAS, TX — A number of elected positions in and around the Dallas area are up for grabs in 2018. You can make your mark by voting in this election, which determines party nominees for the general midterm election in November.
Voters in March will have a chance to vote in party primaries for governor of Texas, a U.S. senator seat, house representatives seats by district and in local races.

Candidates for Governor of Texas:

Texas Senatorial Election:
The senate seat currently held by Republican Ted Cruz is also up for grabs. On the March ballot, Cruz faces off against four other republican candidates for reelection. Three democratic challengers also appear on the ballot. You can read about each of the candidates here.

To vote in the primaries for your U.S. Representative, you must first determine which district you live in. You can find your district by visiting the U.S. House's website and entering your zip code.

Local Elections
North Texas locals will also vote in March on a number of local ballot issues including constables in Precincts 1, 4 and 5, County Commissioner in Precinct 2, a democratic runoff for district attorney, democratic and republican challengers for the sheriff seat vacated by Lupe Valdez and several district court seats. Several counties and cities around Dallas are also voting on specific issues.

Important Dates
Early voting begins — Tuesday, Feb. 20.
Last day to apply for absentee ballot by mail — Friday, Feb. 23
Last Day of Early Voting — Friday, March 2
Last day to receive ballot by mail — Tuesday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m. (Must be postmarked by Wednesday, March 7 at 5:00 p.m.)
Election day — Tuesday, March 6
Voter Registration
The voter registration deadline for the March 2018 primary has already ended. To register to vote in the May 5 uniform election or the Nov. 6 midterm election, print your application from VoteTexas and submit it by mail to the Secretary of State.
