• Denton ISD: Do You Have a Gold Card? – Robson Ranch Pioneer Press (robsonranchpioneerpress.com) — Denton ISD is rolling out a free Gold Card that gives residents 60 and older complimentary general admission to most home athletic and fine arts events. Eligible seniors can pick up a card at the Stephens Building on N. Locust Street starting August 3, with a photo ID required. It's a thank-you to longtime supporters and a way to keep them connected to students' achievements. 
• A short drive from Dallas, this charming town is hosting a massive free jazz festival next month — with 5 stages, local food, and a scenic park vibe (secretdallas.com) — Denton is gearing up for the 35th annual Denton Arts & Jazz Festival this September, now moving to the larger North Texas Fairgrounds on North Carroll Boulevard. Locals can enjoy three days of free live music across genres, art and craft booths, kids' activities, and extensive food options from six courts, all with free admission.
• Highland Village City Update – August 2026 - Cross Timbers Gazette Southern Denton County Flower Mound (crosstimbersgazette.com) — Highland Village leaders are reminding Southern Denton County families about school-zone safety and new enforcement of the city's micro‑mobility and golf cart rules as kids return to class.
