Amendments to strengthen data center rules in Denton's development code now head to the City Council (kdhnews.com) — Denton officials are moving to tighten rules on new data centers, with City Council set to vote Oct. 13 on amendments requiring specific-use permits and added environmental and infrastructure studies. Residents raised concerns about water, power, noise, and farmland near existing and proposed facilities, while planners emphasized that all future data centers in Denton would face closer public scrutiny if changes pass.
   

2. TRAGIC ROLLOVER: 13-Year-Old Sanger ISD Student Killed in Denton County School Bus Crash (ksstradio.com) — A 13-year-old Sanger ISD student has died after a school bus rolled over on Huling Road near Lois Road East in unincorporated Denton County, with four others sustaining minor injuries. The teen was taken to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton, where he passed away, and state troopers are still investigating what caused the bus to leave the roadway.
   

3. Scannell Properties Sells More Than 1M SF Of DFW Distribution Facilities: The DFW Deal Sheet (bisnow.com) — A major industrial complex at Denton Crossing has changed hands, with NorthPoint Development buying more than 700,000 square feet of Class-A distribution space that's already 90% leased near I-35. Brokers say the deal shows strong investor confidence in the Denton submarket and its long-term demand for logistics and warehouse space, signaling continued growth pressure on local industrial land and employment.
   

4. Denton County Commissioner Bobbie Mitchell honored for role as an elected leader - Cross Timbers Gazette Southern Denton County Flower Mound (crosstimbersgazette.com) — Denton County residents are seeing one of their longtime leaders recognized statewide, as Precinct 3 Commissioner Bobbie Mitchell received Texas Woman's University's 2026 Distinguished Public Service Award. Her decades of service include work on Lewisville's council and as mayor, regional leadership roles, and helping bring Denton County's first permanent Boys & Girls Club facility to Lewisville.
