One wonders what Marshall McLuhan would make of this. The Austin TV Festival is in town, celebrating all things television. Panels run the gamut from discussions on Breaking Bad to ruminations on Futurama. A planned 20-year reunion of the Felicity cast is the buzz of the town. This event runs through Sunday, June 9, when a panel discussion will take place among the creators and cast of that 1980s study in upwardly mobile existential angst, thirtysomething. Sounds fun, no? Truly a TV geeks paradise. Price: $20 to $325.

They've done Michael Jackson tribute nights, celebrated Justin Timberlake and, oops they did it again with Britney Spears parties. Now, the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz is getting fierce in focusing on Queen Bey herself with a video dance party featuring music from her latest album all the way back to her early days as a member of Destiny's Child. Rings will be handed out for all the single ladies (all the single ladies), and fun surprises are planned throughout the evening. You best come prepared to dance all night, and don't take 45 minutes to to get all dressed up or you ain't even gonna make it to this club. Sorry. Here's a disclaimer: "All of our Video Dance Party shows are recommended for adult audiences and may feature foul language, nudity and other adult themes." For this is an 18-and-up gathering. However, children ages six and up will be allowed in but only with an adult. No children under the age of 6 will be allowed (sorry, little Beyhive denizens). Price: $5.25. And now, for a point of personal privilege if you don't mind:
Parks & Recreation Outdoor Screening
This is an encore presentation from last year, according to organizers. "We had so much fun last year, we're headed back to Pawnee and we want all our beautiful, rule-breaking moths to join us!" they write on their website. Awesome music, Harvest Festival-themed activities, delicious food and drink a themed photo op and a screening of two episodes from the television show Parks & Recreation will be in the offing. When: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Where: Hotel San Jose parking lot. Where: 1316 S Congress Ave. Event is free and open to the public. RSVPs now open.
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. If your travels take you to downtown, you'll have a heck of a time getting around because of this year's ROT rally that requires the closing of 50 city blocks to accommodate the throngs. The annual, massive gathering of motorcycle enthusiasts brings tens of thousands of motorcyclists to the city for camaraderie and collective pride in biking. So why not ditch the car and head on out to the ROT rally? Musical headliners this year include Shooter Jennings and ZZ Top. If you don't want to pay the steep admission price to get into the various biker-oriented events, you can take in the free spectacle that is the Friday night motorcycle parade starting at 7:45 p.m. that rolls down from the Travis County Exposition Center in Northeast Austin and ending at the Capitol. Otherwise, price is $99. Related story: Huge Biker Rally To Close 50 City Blocks In Downtown Austin. This event runs through Sunday.

You know that classic anti-littering PSA from the 1970s featuring the Native American gentleman who sees the trashed landscape, prompting him to shed a tear at the abominable sight? That's sometimes how we feel when we visit Lady Bird Lake and see trash there where none should ever be. We're not alone on this, either. Like-minded folks can gather Saturday to help clean up the bucolic lake along the shoreline or from canoes, kayaks or stand-up boards in performing altruistic work while putting in some good physical activity. Keep Austin Beautiful in partnership with Austin Watershed has organized this June Clean Lady Bird Lake event. Would-be participants should know this ain't no walk in the park, and you will get messy. Cleaning supplies are provided but plan on bringing your own sunscreen and bottled water to stay hydrated (it's been rather hot lately, in case you haven't noticed). Note: The high temperature on the day of cleanup is forecast at 97 degrees. Chipotle will offer prizes after the work is done. All ages are welcome, including kids with adult supervision. Volunteers can help clean up the lake from the shoreline or from the water in canoes, kayaks, and stand up paddle boards. Volunteer Registration: https://keepaustinbeautiful.org/volunteer-opportunities/. When: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Where: Lady Bird Lake, of course. FREE.
Each month, organizers team up with a different brewery for what they call a "pub cruze" showcasing their hops-suffused offerings. This time, Hops & Grain will host a 10-mile ride, meeting at Spokesman at 11 a.m. At high noon, participants will pedal to Craft Pride, Yellow Jacket Social Club, Metz Recreation Center and Austin Daily Press before ending the ride at the Hops & Grain taproom! Participants must take the following: Valid form of identification; cash money (to tip and to help expedite the line); light source in case you ride home in the dark; bicycle lock; tools (spare tubes, tire leavers, patch kit, multi tool, koozie); water. Organizers say this is a "no-drop" ride, meaning no one gets left behind. "The route will be a nice drinking pace with low traffic," organizers assure on the Facebook events page. "We hope you can join us for a few hours of pedaling and drinking some delicious Hops & Grain beers." FREE to attend, but you'll need to purchase your Hops & Grain beers at each stop. Where: Starts at Spokesman, 440 E. St. Elmo Rd. When: Starts at 11 a.m.
