Baylor University Hit With Another Suit Alleging Gang Rape By Football Players
The lawsuit is the seventh Title IX litigation against the school, including one claiming as many as 52 women were raped by players.

WACO, TX — Baylor University was hit with another Title IX lawsuit on Wednesday morning by a former volleyball player at the school who claims she was "brutally gang raped" by football players.
The plaintiff played volleyball at Baylor from 2011-13, according to the lawsuit, a copy of which was emailed to Patch. She claims the university was "indifferent" in response to her complaint and other multiple cases of sexual assault, saying the school showed a "failure to promptly and appropriately investigate and respond to assaults."
The lawsuit paints a criminal culture at the school, where football players are alleged to have "bonded" over drugging and gang raping female students: "Photographs and videotapes of the semi-conscious girls would be taken during the gang rapes and circulated amongst the football players," the suit reads.

Expanding on that culture, at least one 21-second videotape of two female Baylor students being gang raped by several football players was circulated among the team players.

"Prior to plaintiff’s arrival at Baylor, Baylor officials permitted a campus condition rife with sexual assault and completely lacking the basic standards of support for victims as required by federal and state law," the lawsuit contends. "Baylor’s failure to promptly and appropriately investigate and respond to the assaults allowed a condition to be created that substantially increased Plaintiff’s chances of being sexually assaulted, as well as others. Moreover, Baylor’s failure to promptly and appropriately investigate and respond to these assaults furthered sexual harassment and a hostile environment, effectively denying Plaintiff, and other female students, access to educational opportunities."
The suit also alleges dog fighting was rampant at football-related parties.
The lawsuit marks the seventh Title IX litigation against the school. One of those lawsuits claims as many as 52 women were raped by football players during the tenure of Ian McCaw as athletic director and Art Briles' stint as football coach (see: Lawsuit Against Baylor Alleges Football Players Committed 52 Rapes In 3 Years, Jan. 28, 2017).
