Jupiter Supper Club turns Nova Lounge, its velvet-draped, low-lit live music venue, into the setting for Spirits Among Us: A Night of Witchcraft &amp; Whiskey, a one-night-only Halloween dinner. Chef Olson serves a four-course, plant-forward menu, with each dish featuring an herb and the magic folklore behind it.&nbsp;

The menu opens with basil sunchoke bites, where basil lends love and protection as a welcoming charm. A radicchio salad with mint follows, bringing renewal and a fresh awakening for the senses. Squash black pasta with marjoram comes next, evoking happiness and harmony. Red velvet cake with thyme closes the night with courage and strength, a final charm to carry out the door.

<a href="https://www.instagram.com/shalanesings/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Shalane &amp; Company</a> performs a live set that follows the theme, with songs including “Black Magic Woman” and “I Put a Spell on You.” Each guest receives a Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Rye Manhattan. Florals are by <a href="https://austinfloraldesign.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Austin Floral Design</a>.&nbsp;

Costumes are welcome and encouraged. Seating is limited to 24 guests, and diners can note dietary needs when they reserve.

TACO Talk: The Art of...Appraising Art Sunday, November 1, 2026 Doors 2:00pm | Lecture 2:30PM In-Person &amp; On Zoom TICKETS $20 General Admission | $10 Students | Free for NCHM Members Dr. Francine Carraro and Lee Ann Whatley come together with dynamic backgrounds in the museum and gallery worlds to discuss the Art of Appraising Art with an informative, educational presentation for art collectors. Together they will discuss what important details make up an appraisal report, the methodologies used to arrive at specific valuations and how and why appraisals are important. Whether you are considering evaluating your collection for Insurance purposes, Estate Planning purposes, or to potentially sell or donate your artwork, you will learn how a professional appraisal report can be an essential tool for the conscientious and discerning collector. From start to finish you will know what to expect from the initial phone call to the ultimate product; a process that will address the problem to be solved and the expectations of the client, creating a scope of work and estimate for services, to the final understanding of what the final report and product will provide for you. You will know what to expect at an initial consultation and for the on-site inspection and data collection. There will be ample time for questions and answers to demystify the appraisal process. The main house is among the oldest residences still standing in Austin. The Junior League of Austin

Swan Songs, an Austin-founded nonprofit dedicated to recognizing the power of music at the end of life, will host the 2026 Swan Songs Serenade on Sunday, November 1 at The Junior League of Austin Community Impact Center. With this year’s concert requests projected to reach 600 – an estimated 60% increase since 2024 – the 16th annual gala will once again celebrate a community of supporters and donors who make it possible for Swan Songs to directly compensate musicians to perform favorite styles of music for recipients in their private homes or care facilities, with no cost to the requestors or families. Individual tickets to the 2026 Swan Songs Serenade are available now and can be purchased for $250.

The run of show for the Serenade is as follows:

6 PM – cocktail reception and silent auction
7 PM – seated dinner by Rosemary’s Catering
8 PM – live auction&nbsp;
9 PM – silent auction concludes and performance by Ugandan-born, Austin-local Jon Muq

Swan Songs was born from a series of powerful experiences in the early 1990s, when Austin musician Christine Albert (Swan Songs Founder &amp; CEO) was invited to sing for individuals nearing the end of life. Inspired by these intimate moments, Christine and psychotherapist Gaea Logan began organizing bedside concerts through an early initiative called MusicAid. Support from collaborators like Craig Hella Johnson and the New Texas Festival (now Conspirare) helped to grow their venture. In 2005, Christine, Gaea and a dedicated group of founding board members formally established Swan Songs as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, honoring the memory of John Swann, whose love of music helped inspire the organization’s name and mission. The organization is committed to utilizing professional musicians whose expertise and experience are central to the success of the program. They recognize the importance of compensating these artists; with no financial obligation on the part of the recipient, their family, or the healthcare facility.

Swan Songs has worked with dozens of regional hospices and care facilities and compensated over 800 musicians through the years. They work diligently to match the style of music requested with the appropriate musician(s). The variety of requests over the years reflects how deep an individual’s connection with music can be – based on a lifetime of memories, culture, heritage and geography. Whatever connects the recipient to those memories, their family, their joy – that is what Swan Songs brings.
