Coronavirus: Austin Public Health Offers Free Testing

Once eligibility is determined through a self-assessment, residents can schedule a no-cost, drive-through coronavirus test.

AUSTIN, TX — Austin Public Health is now offering residents free testing for the new coronavirus.

On the agency's website those interested are invited "...to pre-register for free testing for you or a loved one." There's a button on the site to begin an assessment and create an account before scheduling a no-cost, drive-through coronavirus test at a local Austin Public Health facility.

The assessment includes a number of steps:

  • Answering a few questions to determine testing eligibility. Eligibility is determined by symptoms and individual risk factors, according to information found on the site.
  • Once eligiblity is determined, residents can sign up for testing at a drive-through location.
  • Those found eligible will then receive confirmation of appointment, with results available online in 3 to 4 days.
