Coronavirus: Texas Illness Count Jumps To 11,671

Over the course of a 24-hour period, 1,141 new cases of coronavirus cases were confirmed as 1,366 patients recover from infection.

AUSTIN, TX — The number of coronavirus cases statewide grew by 1,441 over the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 11,671, health officials confirmed on Friday.

Another 27 fatalities were reported during the same period of time, briging the total to 226 deaths related to virus infection. Amid the grim statistics logged on the continuallly updated Texas Department of State Health Services dashboard, comes a glimmer of hope: Of the diagnosed to date, 1,366 have since recovered after acquiring the COVID-19 virus that causes respiratory illness.

To date, according to the statistics, 115,918 tests for the virus have been conducted across the state.

  • Dallas: 1,432 cases.
  • Travis: 642.
  • Tarrant: 637
  • Bexar: 615
  • Fort Bend: 485
  • Denton: 426.
  • Collin: 406.
  • Galveston: 308.
  • Lubbock: 234.
  • Montgomery: 231.
