Enjoy Memorial Day Weekend With Fun Austin Events

From ale to yoga, fun and interesting things to do over the long weekend abound.

AUSTIN, TX — Memorial Day weekend is upon us, a time of year when we honor those who served our country while enjoying the freedoms yielded by their sacrifice. To celebrate those freedoms, there are a number of interesting events taking place this weekend.

Live music performance and an abundance of food will be had this weekend. Some of the concerts are sold out by now, but there is still much music to be enjoyed. For the music schedule, click here. Featured chefs include Aaron Franklin of Franklin Barbecue; Adam Sappington of the Country Cat in Portland, Ore.; Abraham Conlon of Fate Rice in Chicago; Alejandro Escalante from La Casa de los Tacos in Mexico City; Alex Stupak of New York City's Empellon; Andrew Wiseheart of Contigo in Austin; and more. Price: $15 to $30 for live music shows, $95 to $195 for food events.

FRIDAY, MAY 25

ALIVE + WELL AUSTIN

It's been a long week, and you could use some relaxation. Nothing better for that than a bit of yoga followed by alcoholic drinks. Why, it's the Yoga Happy Hour hosted by Alive + Well Austin and Twisted X Brewing Company. After yoga, take your bendy self on over to Elle's Café & Coffee to lubricate those stretched joints and tendons. Because ohm is where the beer is. SATURDAY, MAY 26

ROOSTER TRUCK'S GRAND OPENING

1606 East Food Trailer Park

The food truck version of Los Angeles-based restaurant The Rooster has come home to roost, offering Chef Rouha Sadighi's breakfast favorites. "A firm believer in food being accessible to all walks of life, Rouha's vision for The Rooster is to provide the BEST food, with the BEST environment, welcoming everyone into her space for an experience you could mistake for home," the food truck's website reads. CRAFTSMAN'S 3RD ANNIVERSARY

2000 E Cesar Chavez St,

Champagne, beer and fresh oysters. What more could you possibly need? The "3 Year Anniversary Oyster Shuck and Prosecco Party" is the place to be for those who enjoys those three things and who doesn't. There will be $3 on tap for Dos Equis and Prosecco. You'll be transported to the 90s with music from that era brought to attendees by Chandler and the Blings. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Price: Free.

'THE DARK KNIGHT' SCREENING

13317 Fitzhugh Road

At this tenth anniversary Stunt Ranch Cinema screening, organizers will have plenty of fireballs surrounding the audience every time there's an explosion on screen. Can you imagine the spectacle when the Joker leaves the hospital? There will be activities prior to the screening, along with themed cocktails to enjoy and a DC character costume contest with a $50 grand prize and two Alamo Drafthouse Rain Checks for the runner-up. "So come out dressed to impress, and ready to use your grappling hook (well, zipline) to soar across the field in your best bat gear!" organizers wrote on the event website. This is Batman with pyrotechnics and stuns galore to add a 4-D vibe to the whole experience. From 5:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Price: $35.

SUNDAY, MAY 27

BOOT CAMP, THEN BEER

Five separate venues, starting at 10 a.m.
