AUSTIN, TEXAS — Former first lady Michelle Obama will visit Austin as part of her book tour in February, publishing officials said.

Obama is promoting her new book "Becoming: An Intimate Conversation with Michelle Obama" in a national tour of cities. Austin will be one of the stops during which she will discuss the tome at the Frank Erwin Center, 1701 Red River St., on Feb. 28. The bolstered book tour also includes a stop at the Toyota Center in Houston on March 4.

The former first lady's book became an instant publishing hit upon being released on Nov. 13, sparking a 10-city tour that has now been expanded throughout the U.S. and Canada. It's already sold more than 3 million copies in North America, according to Crown Publishing, landing on the New York Times best-seller list in a mere week's time .

"I've been so humbled by the response to the tour thus far and the overwhelming interest we've received from so many communities we weren't able to visit this year," she told People magazine. "That's why I'm thrilled that we're able to expand our conversations to these new settings and wider audiences. I can't wait to continue the discussions that have been so meaningful for me and, I hope, for so many others."

In her memoir, Obama writes openly about her life, from her upbringing in Chicago to confronting racism in public life. Find out more about the book on her website.
