Get Batty At 14th Annual Austin Bat Fest This Saturday

Event celebrates the estimated 1.5 million Mexican Free-Tailed bats living under the Congress Street bridge.

AUSTIN, TX — Looking to do something quintessentially Austin on Saturday? You might want to go to the 2018 Bat Fest celebrating the 1.5 million flying mammals living under the Congress Bridge.

The 1.5 million Mexican Free-Tailed bats that call Austin home have long delighted residents and tourists alike with their en masse, nocturnal flight in search for food. It's quite a sight to behold seeing the mass of bats flying together looking for food.

The 14th Annual Bat Fest celebrates their residency with fun bat-related activities, arts and crafts, food, live music and even a bat costume contest. The celebration kicks off at 4 p.m. on Saturday and runs until midnight at the bridge on 100 S. Congress Ave.

Live music performances include sets by Baby Bash, Chingy, Mike Jones and more Early bird admission tickets were priced at $15 but tickets can be purchased at the gate for $20. Children under 8 years old get in free with an adult admission. VIP tickets also are available. To get tickets, here.
