Local Physical Therapists to Present at Orlando Conference

Gwyn and Kroon have been invited to speak at the 2019 American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists' Annual Conference.

Physical Therapists Katherine Gwyn and Pieter Kroon have been invited to speak at the 2019 American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists’ Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida, on Oct. 23. Gwyn and Kroon practice at Mondo Sports Therapy, an outpatient physical therapy clinic located at 4201 Marathon Blvd., Suite 204 in Austin.

Gwyn and Kroon will deliver a presentation entitled “Loading Based Rehabilitation for Lower Extremity Tendinopathy: Beyond Eccentrics.” The lecture will highlight how to recognize and effectively treat lower extremity tendon injuries.

Gwyn graduated with a master’s and doctorate in physical therapy from Texas Woman’s University. She received a fellowship in orthopaedic manual therapy in 2015.

Kroon graduated from The Hague University of Applied Sciences in Den Haag, Netherlands prior to moving to Texas. He received his doctorate in physical therapy in 2013 at Rosalind Franklin University. Kroon is board certified in orthopaedic physical therapy and is the program director of the Manual Therapy Institute. He has been teaching post-graduate manual therapy courses nationwide since 1994 and is currently an assistant professor at Texas State University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

The theme of AAOMPT’s 2019 Annual Conference is “Redefining Musculoskeletal Health.” The event regularly draws more than 700 physical therapists from around the world. For more information about AAOMPT or its upcoming annual conference, visit the organization’s website.
