Mezcal Maker Brings 'Busking' To Austin Streets During SXSW
Kimo Sabe officials have organized spontaneous concerts along city avenues, with more scheduled on Wednesday afternoon.

AUSTIN, TX — The people behind Kimo Sabe mezcal have done their part in bringing music to SXSW as they promote their brand, organizing "busking" events at various downtown streets.
The act of "busking" involves the playing of music or other artistic performance for voluntary donations in the street or in subways. What better city than Austin — dubbed the "live music capital of the world" — to organize such an event?
On Tuesday, the tequila makers organized busking events featuring a street art installation with KP and The Boom at two different locations — at the corner of 2nd Street and Congress Avenue and at Rainey Street with a reprise featuring Javelina Bar, Lucille & Blackheart.

The mezcal-inspired music continues Wednesday with another street art installation and Graham Weber, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The impromptu concert will take place at the open lot across from Hotel Vegas.
Full disclosure: Kimo Sabe this week has set up a makeshift bar on the second floor of the J.W. Marriott Hotel media room, offering much-needed liquid comfort to journalists from all over the world toiling away with SXSW coverage for their news outlets. Patch recently enjoyed a Kimo Sabe-infused margarita (only after all assignments were done) prepared spicy with actual slices of jalapeño pepper inside.
