Police called to 2600 block of Nueces Street at around 3 p.m., less than two hours after fatal stabbing at University of Texas at Austin.

AUSTIN, TX — Less than two hours after a fatal stabbing at the University of Texas at Austin on Monday afternoon, police issued a plea for help from the public in finding a suspect in a separate stabbing not far from campus. But they inserted a disclaimer: The stabbing was unrelated to the one on campus.
Police were called to the 2600 block of Nueces Street at around 3 p.m. after being notified to a stabbing. The victim told police he got into a confrontation with an unknown male after he observed the man threatening a woman with a knife. The victim sustained a stab wound after intervening, police said.
Police said the victim went home after being stabbed to ask his roommates to take him to the hospital where he reported the incident to the Austin Police Department. His injuries were not life-threatening, police noted.
