SWSW Day 2 Offers Plenty Of Engrossing, Fun Offerings
Conversation between CNN newsman Jake Tapper and Bernie Sanders was the buzz opening day, but so much more is ahead.

AUSTIN, TX — A wide-ranging discussion between CNN newsman Jake Tapper and former presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders was the big highlight of the opening day of SXSW Friday. Yet there are still plenty of compelling offerings to be had on the second day of the festival.

- HBCU Battle of the Brains Final 5 p.m to 7 p.m. | JW Marriott, Salon 5
The HBCU Battle of the Brains invites SXSW Platinum and Interactive badge holders to the Finals of the 2018 HBCU Battle of the Brains on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 5:00 PM CST at the JW Marriott Austin. Held in the Grand Ballroom 5 on the fourth floor, join students from 25 HBCUs around the country as we crown the 2018 HBCU Battle of the Brains Champion. Your voice will count as the crowd will count as one of the judges in this competition so you will get to help determine which schools get a share of the $50,000 in scholarship prize money! Have you ever imagined not being able to put on a dress shirt within ten minutes? Mobility impairment and paralysis often impact a person’s ability to wear clothing. Initiated at MIT in 2014 and currently operating in conjunction with Parsons, Open Style Lab's work highlights the concerns people with disabilities have about the limited choices in clothing that inhibit their potential to take part in everyday life. From utilizing AR when creating accessible clothing to smart performance fabrics, hear stories of collaborations with people with disabilities.

A dysfunctional family reunites after the son, Matt, is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Matt and his sister Kate make a pact. He agrees to give her his sperm for future use with a partner if she agrees to come out to the family that night.

“Brian and Charles” tells the story of an unlikely friendship forged in isolation. After a particularly harsh winter Brian goes into a deep depression; completely isolated and with no one to talk to Brian does what any sane person would do when faced with such a melancholic situation, he builds a robot. Charles is that robot. While life is pretty rosy for a while, tensions begin to rise between pair. Partly due to the fact that Charles has the cognitive ability of a 4 year old child and completely due to the fact that he keeps eating Brians cabbages. Things soon come to a head and Brian is forced to make a decision he may soon come to regret.

When Lauren and Bill's 14-year-old daughter says she's going to her first dance with her classmate Ryan, they welcome the news with excitement...and hesitation. Lauren and Bill always assumed their daughter was gay, in the same way that most parents assume their child is straight (until given notice). Suddenly, they worry they have not provided an open environment that allows their daughter to be herself. Lauren and Bill do some introspection on their own parenting and ask, "Are we good parents?"
