SXSW Film Screening Announced With Austin Street Parade
Members of New Orleans' famed Preservation Hall Jazz Band will take to the streets to celebrate 'A Tuba to Cuba' tracking musical roots.

AUSTIN, TX — To get the word out about screenings, news of most films premiering in Austin spreads through social media, old-fashioned flyers or through the SXSW events app. But news of one film being screened locally will be literally blared out to passersby with the power of music.
A street parade celebrating the world premiere of "A Tuba to Cuba" is scheduled Wednesday evening, featuring members of New Orleans' famed Preservation Hall Jazz Band. It starts at the The Paramount Theater; 713 Congress Ave., before winding down city streets and ending the procession at the Empire Control Room & Garage, 606 E 7th St.
The band is something of a musical tribute to the protagonist of the film itself. A synopsis: A son seeking to fulfill his late father’s dream takes his band from the storied city of New Orleans to the shores of Cuba, where — through the universal language of music — dark and ancient connections between their peoples reveal the roots of jazz.
