Monday Is The Last Day To Register To Vote In Texas

Residents must have registered by Monday to vote in the Nov. 3 elections, but it's not too late to do so. Read below on how to register.

AUSTIN, TX — Monday is the last day to vote in the upcoming November elections.

To vote in Texas on Nov. 3, residents must have registered by Monday, Oct. 5. Applications must be received in the Voter Registrar’s office or postmarked at least 30 days before an election toward securing eligibility to vote in that election.

The timeline is detailed in Sec. 13.143(e) of the Texas Election Code, if the 30th day before the date of an election is a Saturday, Sunday, or legal state or national holiday, an application is considered to be timely if it is submitted to the registrar on or before the next regular business day.

Ways to Register

To register to vote in Texas, simply complete a voter registration application and return it to your county election office at least 30 days before the upcoming election date. To complete an application, you may:

  1. Complete an application using the Texas Secretary Of State ONLINE VOTER REGISTRATION APPLICATION. Simply fill in the required information, print, sign and mail directly to your county election office.
  2. Contact or visit your local VOTER REGISTRAR to complete the voter registration process.

You are eligible to register to vote if:

  • You are a U.S. citizen;
  • You are a resident of the county where you submit the application;
  • You are at least 17 years and 10 months old, and you are 18 years of age on Election Day.
  • You are not a convicted felon (you may be eligible to vote if you have completed your sentence, probation, and parole); and
  • You have not been declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
