Funds raised for Stuart Bayliss, who was among those injured in Monday's attack, while separate page for slain student's family tops $100K.

AUSTIN, TX — A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise funds for one of the victims of Monday's stabbing rampage at the University of Texas at Austin, identified as engineering student and ROTC member Stuart Bayliss.

"He sustained multiple injuries that will require months of healing and physical therapy,” the page reads. “Stuart went through a 5+ hour surgery and was kept in ICU overnight. He had major surgery on his right hand. They had to repair 7 severed tendons, 2 severed nerves and 2 severed main blood vessels in his middle finger.”

Bayliss was one of four students allegedly stabbed by fellow student Kendrex J. White, 21, who has since been charged with murder after the death of another one of his victims, student Harrison Brown. The attack took place Monday afternoon in front of the Gregory Gym on campus.

The GoFundMe page for Bayliss was created on Tuesday to defray medical costs given extensive injuries sustained after White is said to have gone on a stabbing rampage with a Bowie-style knife. Some 18 hours after its creation, the crowdsourcing page has collected more than $35,000 toward a $75,000 goal

According to information on the page, Bayliss is from Katy, Texas, and his mother works as an elementary school teacher in that city.

A separate GoFundMe page for Brown, the slain student, has exceeded its $100,000 goal by nearly $22,000, funds intended to assist the family with burial costs and related expenses. Students plan a community gathering at the campus to celebrate the young student's life. The 7 p.m. event is scheduled at the UT Tower on Wednesday.
