Win A Free House Cleaning From Round Rock-Based Two Maids & A Mop
The local franchise is doing a brisk business in Central Texas, cleaning up both literally and figuratively in a fast-growing region.
ROUND ROCK, TX — It's been said there's no such thing as a recession-proof business. But if there were, housecleaning — particularly given people's busy lifestyles — would come close to that distinction, and a Round Rock company is cleaning up in both the literal and figurative sense.
The Round Rock-based Two Maids & a Mop franchise is celebrating its success in a vast and brisk-growing region — a service area from Leander to Taylor and from Georgetown to Pflugerville — with a giveaway. At the end of February, a winner will be selected for a free house cleaning in a contest. Entrants are directed to share a photo of their significant others' "honey-do list" by submitting it to this link: http://bit.ly/2GhFarD.
Patch only recently learned of this contest that was launched on Valentine's Day, and wanted readers to avail themselves of an opportunity for a free house cleaning as February winds down. So get your entry in before it's too late! There is still time.

In a telephone interview with Patch, franchise owner Angela Spencer described the growth of her business among clients living increasingly harried lives. With work, commuting and taking the kids to their sporting and academic events, a growing number of people simply don't have time for a thorough house cleaning, she explained.

That's where Two Maids & a Mop comes in. The company has been around for 17 years, but Spencer's franchise is barely two years old, she said. Already, it's one of the nation's fastest-growing franchises, she added.
"It's a good time being in the cleaning business," Spencer said. "Cleaning is no longer a luxury. It's a necessity. You have all these people in the suburbs who don't have time for cleaning."
That's particularly true in cities within the franchise service area that routinely rank on lists ranking the nation's fastest-growing cities. Residents of Round Rock and Cedar Park-Leander know what we're talking about.
Spencer knows a bit about living a hectic life, and can easily relate to her clients' time pressures. She told Patch she's lived in Pflugerville for a decade, raising two girls ages 5 and 7 with her wife of 15 years, a licensed professional counselor for Travis County who spends about an hour in traffic between home and work.
"The weekends are the only time we have to spend together," Spencer said. "Who has time for cleaning?"
The couple's busy schedules served as inspiration for launching the business, she said: "That's actually why I started the business. I was trying to find a way to make money in the suburbs, but also to give busy families more time together. So our business purpose is not just to clean houses."
Given the brisk growth of her franchise, Central Texas residents are availing themselves of her offers to keep families together — and get their houses spic and span in the process. The franchise began with two maids, and now secures 10 to 12 most times to keep up with demand, she said.
To assuage concerns of those who don't like strangers in their homes while they're out, the company only is fully licensed, bonded and insured, and workers undergo thorough background checks before being hired, she said.
And to minimize the intrusion of two maids — and a mop to boot — along with myriad cleaning supplies, the company operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m, when homeowners are at their jobs and the kiddos are at school, she noted.
"We're not in people's homes when they are trying to enjoy their homes," she said. "We also try to get to know our clients, and build relationships. "Our goal is to really get to know our customers."
Have you sent that honey-do list yet? The contest is something of an extension of Spencer's own philanthropic penchant, namely her collaboration with Cleaning for a Reason — a nonprofit securing free house cleanings at cancer patients' homes. To that end, Spencer's cleaning teams are dispatched to homes in Round Rock and the surrounding area inhabited by folks battling cancer so they can focus on getting better and spending time with their families.
