The man faces an animal cruelty charge and a $6,000 bond, while the Sheriff's Office urges local pet owners to properly secure animals when transporting them to prevent similar incidents.

• Texas Tech program links dental care to diabetes screening (ktsm.com) — El Paso residents visiting certain dental offices can now get quick diabetes risk screenings right in the waiting room through Texas Tech Health El Paso's "Diabetes and the Dentist" program. Promotores help patients take a risk test and HbA1c finger-prick, then connect at-risk patients to primary care. A new grant will expand screenings and train more local dental and hygiene students. • Crime of the week: El Paso man steals turkey and Tylenol (kfoxtv.com) — Crime Stoppers of El Paso is asking for help identifying a man who allegedly stole packaged turkey and Tylenol from the Albertson's on North Mesa, then injured an employee with a thrown trash can while fleeing. The suspect is described as about 5'10" with a thin build, long hair, and a mustache. Anyone with information can anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 566-8477 (TIPS).
