Socorro police seek armed robbery suspect in Denver Broncos jersey (elpasotimes.com) — Socorro police and Crime Stoppers of El Paso are asking for help identifying a man in a Denver Broncos jersey who robbed a Murphy USA gas station on Alameda Avenue in April. Investigators released a detailed description and vehicle information, and tipsters can remain anonymous and may receive a reward if their information leads to an arrest.
   

4. Retired El Paso monsignor finalist for national Catholic award (ktsm.com) — An El Paso priest who spent nearly five decades serving local parishes is once again a finalist for the national Lumen Christi Award. Retired Monsignor Arturo Bañuelas, honored for his work with the Tepeyac Institute and formation of tens of thousands of lay leaders, could bring significant funding and recognition to the El Paso Diocese when the winner is announced this fall.
   

5. Gila, Lincoln national forests hire for fire operations (ktsm.com) — El Paso residents interested in wildland firefighting can now apply for a range of paid positions supporting fire operations in the Gila and Lincoln National Forests in southern New Mexico. Open to applicants 18 and older, the jobs include dispatchers, engine operators, handcrew and hotshot members, and more, with applications accepted on USAJobs.gov through Sept. 22.
