Dexter, injured turkey vulture, joins El Paso Zoo as conservation ambassador (kfoxtv.com) — Families in El Paso can soon meet Dexter, a rescued turkey vulture who's becoming a conservation ambassador at the El Paso Zoo & Botanical Gardens. A special International Vulture Awareness Day event will feature enrichment activities, games, and a chat on why vultures matter to local ecosystems. The zoo's raptor program also works with El Paso Animal Services to rehabilitate injured birds.
   

2. Transmountain semi crash sparks new calls for better signs at runaway truck ramp (cbs4local.com) — A recent semi-truck crash on Transmountain in El Paso has renewed concerns about whether drivers get enough warning before reaching the new runaway truck ramp, which opened about eight weeks ago. TxDOT says the mechanical ramp is fully operational and can stop heavy trucks at high speeds, but acknowledges the overall project isn't finished and is evaluating additional safety enhancements and signage.

Judge grants request for DNA testing in 1987 Northeast El Paso killings (kvia.com) — A judge in El Paso has granted new DNA testing on evidence from the 1987 Northeast El Paso serial killings tied to death row inmate David Leonard Wood. The decision comes after earlier requests were denied, including by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. Results could influence how this long-running, high-profile local case moves forward.
   

4. Sheriff's Office investigates early morning stabbing at Transmountain overlook (kvia.com) — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is investigating a reported stabbing at a Transmountain picnic-area overlook after a victim with stab wounds showed up at a local hospital. Deputies collected evidence at the scene and have since cleared the area, while the victim has been released with no major injuries. Authorities have not yet said whether anyone has been arrested.
   

5. Are Karol G and Bruno Mars dating? Why fans are wondering (elpasotimes.com) — Fans in El Paso following Karol G's tour may be curious about her close onstage chemistry with Bruno Mars, which has sparked dating rumors after their new video for "Still" showed behind-the-scenes moments from a massive Los Angeles performance.
