Fort Worth Police Issue Warning About Municipal Court Scam
Anyone who has concerns about messages requesting payment should contact Fort Worth Municipal Court.
The Fort Worth Police Department is reminding residents to be on the alert for spam calls from individuals posing as law enforcement and demanding payments for supposed warrants or missed jury duty.
The department put out a social media post about the matter on Tuesday. "We are aware of scam calls from individuals posing as law enforcement, demanding payment for supposed warrants or missed jury duty," the post states. "These are not from our municipal court."
The department urges against sharing any payment or personal information with these scammers.

The City of Fort Worth posted a blog about the issue back in March. According to the post, the Fort Worth Municipal Court does not call the public to take payments over the phone. Additionally, people arriving at the court voluntarily are not arrested for Class C warrants.
Municipal Court Director William Rumuly said, "Fort Worth is a Safe Harbor Court, meaning residents can always visit a Fort Worth Municipal Court location without fear of arrest for outstanding warrants issued by the Fort Worth Municipal Court."
