Social media threat targeting Harlingen middle school is not credible, district says (newsbreak.com) — Families in Harlingen are being reassured after a social media threat against Coakley Middle School was investigated and found not credible, though police will still boost their presence today. District officials stress that even false threats can bring serious criminal and school consequences, and urge students and parents to report concerns to trusted adults or law enforcement instead of reposting them online.

Lucio's attorneys now plan to take the case to federal courts while Harlingen remains central to the tragedy's history.
   

4. Goodwin: Texas Senate will be run very differently if I am elected lieutenant governor (riograndeguardian.com) — A statewide candidate for Texas lieutenant governor recently visited Harlingen, speaking at a local Democratic forum about changing how the Texas Senate operates and emphasizing public schools, healthcare, affordability, and infrastructure. She criticized the current lieutenant governor's influence over senators and described how her campaign is countering attack ads and deepfake videos. Harlingen residents heard her pitch directly as the race heads toward November.
