8 Aircraft Damaged As High Winds Topple Hangar At Hobby Airport
Straight-line winds are to blame for an aircraft hanger that toppled onto several private planes early Wednesday.

HOUSTON, TX — A burst of high winds caused an aircraft hangar at Houston’s Hobby Airport to collapse, damaging eight private aircraft.
The collapse happened just after midnight at the Jet Aviation hangar, located at West Monroe Road and Scranton Street.

Officials said four private planes were inside the hangar, and four others were outside when straight-line winds as high as 60 miles per hour toppled the building, KTRK reported.
No one was inside at the time of the incident.

The Houston saw a band of intense storms roll through the Houston area, with northern communities seeing the first flashes of lightning at about 9:30 p.m., before a second band hit communities south of downtown, including Hobby Airport, at about 11 p.m.
Damages to the eight aircraft are calculated to be in the millions.
