Change Of Venue Denied For Couple Accused Of Murder
Ex-deputy Chauna Thompson and her husband Terry Thompson will face a Harris County jury, despite their request for a change of venue.

HOUSTON, TX — A judge has denied the request for a change of venue in the upcoming murder trial of a former Harris County Sheriff’s deputy and her husband.
Former deputy Chauna Thompson and her husband Terry Thompson requested that their trials scheduled for May and June be moved from Harris County, citing their difficulty of getting a fair trial because of prejudice and claims their case was mishandled by law enforcement.

Judge Kelli Johnson issued her decision in the 178th District Court on Friday, and ruled there was no evidence the Thompson's could not receive a fair trial in Harris County, KPRC reported.

The initial request was made on Tuesday with the judge hearing testimony from several law enforcement officers, including Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Assistant District Attorney's Tim Berg and Jim Leitner
Chauna and Terry Thompson are scheduled to go on trial this summer for the murder of 24-year old John Hernandez, who was killed outside of a Denny’s restaurant in Crosby during a fight May 2017.
