While home prices rise, Texans won't compromise on this feature
While home prices sour into a double-digit spike, one survey reveals the biggest must-have feature for Texas homebuyers.

The housing market is intense across the US, and Texas bears no exception to the rising prices and increasingly competitive zip codes. In fact, the most recent numbers show that in the beginning of 2022, there’s been a double-digit sales price spike.
While the tipping point is nowhere near sight, one thing is for certain—If you’re moving around Texas, it’s getting harder to find your dream home. Afterall, the Houston housing market is now worth $664 billion after gaining $107 billion in 2021—$386 billion more than it was a decade ago.
It wasn’t too long ago that it was a buyer’s market, and shopping for your perfect home was, for some, a relatively calm and smooth process. There would always be compromises to make, but there was also more inventory to choose from.

Nowadays, there’s often so much compromise you’ll need to make in order to purchase any home. With all that in mind, what are Texans most and least likely to compromise on when searching for that perfect Houston home?
Joybird, a mid-century modern furniture store, recently did a deep dive into homebuying must-have and deal-breaker features across the country. They asked respondents what they could compromise on, from large backyards, to master bedrooms, to further understand what homebuyer needs are.

The survey of over 3000 people revealed that the biggest must-have for Texan homebuyers is an open floor plan. Texans were also most likely to compromise on a pool.
But Texans weren’t the only ones demanding a modern open floor plan. In fact, 27 states chose an open floor plan as their must-have feature.
