More Rain In Store For Houston Area
Widespread flooding has occurred in the overnight hours after more than six inches of rain fell in less than an hour.

HOUSTON, TX — More rain is expected tomove into the Houston-Galveston region Tuesday afternoon, compounding the system that dumped nearly a foot of rain in western areas of the Harris and Fort Bend Counties early Tuesday.
The National Weather Services issued a flash flood warning until 7:30 a.m. for Waller, Harris and Fort Bend County, which was extended until 10:30 a.m..
Rain began to slowing move through the Greater Houston area overnight, dumping heavy showers on the western regions and flooding local creeks and waterways.

Officials with the Harris County Flood Control District said some of the heaviest rain fell along White Oak Bayou and Mayde Creek, and have asked residents in Jersey Village in northwest Houston and Katy in west Houston to remain in place and stay off the roads.
Classes for Houston Community College Campuses were delayed until 10 a.m.

The highest rainfall totals in the Houston area were reported in arease of western Harris County, with 8.28 inches of rain in Mayde Creek near Cullen Park, and 8.12 inches of rain in Mason Creek near George Bush Park, KPRC reported.
Commuters in southwest Houston, along Interstate 69 and along the feeders roads in the area of West Bellfort experienced high water and were forced to turn around, while those trying to make their way to work along Interstate 45 in Spring also ran into flood waters.
Houston Transtar reports that numerous high water areas in Houston, mostly on frontage and feeder roads, pariculary along areas of Interstate 45 between Rankin Road and Loop 610.
The high water areas and street flooding are common occurrences in Houston when a large amount of rain falls in a relatively short amount of time, and in this case, the entire area saw as much as six inches of rainfall in less than an hour.

- BRICKHOUSE GULLY & COSTA RICA (34TH & US-290)
- HORSEPEN CREEK & TRAILSIDE
- SOUTH MAYDE CREEK & GREENHOUSE ROAD
According to a KPRC report, the rainfall is widespread and many of the areas have reports of high water in Houston and Downtown Houston, and include other Houston area communities:

The heavy rain is slowing moving to the east and is expected to be out of the Houston area by 9 a.m.
Meanwhile, more rain is on the way with afternoon showers in the forecast for Tuesday, with periods of scattered rain possible Wednesday and early Thursday.
