Getting Married in Houston? Keep The Weather in Mind

These are the best dates for a Houston wedding this year (and beyond).

Whether you live in Houston or are traveling here to get married, you’ll want to make sure everything is planned accordingly. We all know that Houston is a booming city with lots of people (and traffic), so you don’t want to fall behind on anything.

A big part of planning a wedding is planning around the weather -- and no, that doesn’t mean just planning in the right season. Obviously, not many people will be planning their wedding in the months of extreme heat here in Texas, and a lot of people probably won’t be planning the wedding in the dead of winter either. What you need to do is plan for the exact day with the least chances of rain or extreme temperatures. But who has time to do that?

Luckily, you don’t have to spend time looking up the average temperature, precipitation rates, and other historical data to find the perfect day because The Black Tux has already done that for you. The tuxedo rental company took historical weather data from different cities around America and determined the days with perfect weather. This means they picked the days with no rain in the past 5 years and temperatures closest to a perfect 70 degrees.

In Houston specifically, the best day to get married is surprisingly June 27th. While this is in the Summer, historically, it’s the best summer day (weather-wise). After June 27th, the second-best day to get married is August 21st. The third-best day to have your wedding is also in August: August 8th. Obviously, unless you’re having a speedy wedding, June is out of the question (and in many cases, August is too). However, if you’re planning a wedding for 2021, chances are these days are still great options to plan for.

Yes, there are also days you want to avoid as well. Houston’s worst day to get married is February 14th. If you are dying to get married on Valentine’s Day next year, don’t -- unless you want bad weather. The second-worst day is February 8th, and the third-worst day to get married is January 4th. While two of these dates have already passed this year, keep these dates in mind if you’re planning for next year. If your wedding is currently planned for this upcoming Valentine’s Day, brace yourself for some bad weather.
