Harmony Public Schools Host Black History Month Program Celebrating “Roots. Rhythm. Resilience.

A Student-Led Celebration Honoring History, Culture and the Power of Perseverance

Harmony School of Innovation-Houston will host a Black History Month program, “Roots. Rhythm. Resilience. We Are the Dream,” on February 26 at Harmony School of Innovation–Houston, located at 9321 W. Sam Houston Parkway S. in the campus multipurpose room.

Designed as a powerful, student-led tribute, this three-act experience will guide audiences through history, culture and student voice. The program will be offered in two sessions, from 9:45–11 a.m. and 1–2:15 p.m., providing families and community members multiple opportunities to attend.

Act I: Roots will honor the history that shaped generations, from the struggles of slavery to the groundbreaking achievements of Black inventors whose innovations changed the world.
Act II: Rhythm will celebrate the heartbeat of Black culture through music and dance, highlighting the sounds and movements that have connected communities across generations.
Act III: Resilience will spotlight student reflections on perseverance, leadership and hope, sharing what it means to rise and dream in the face of adversity.

The program will conclude with a unified performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” underscoring this year’s theme, “We Are the Dream,” a tribute to those who paved the way and a call for the next generation to continue building a brighter future.

The event aims to engage students, families, and community members in meaningful reflection and celebration while uplifting student talent and leadership.
