Harmony Public Schools-Houston North: The Ultimate Math Showdown

Students from across the district put their problem-solving skills to the test in competition celebrating mathematical excellence.

Harmony Public Schools–Houston North District hosted its 2nd Annual Math Masters Tournament 2026, bringing together about 80 students in grades 6–8 from seven campuses for a day of academic competition and collaboration. Participants showcased strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and perseverance throughout the event.

The tournament featured three rounds:
• Sprint Round - speed and accuracy
• Team Round - collaboration and strategy
• Countdown Round - a head-to-head that determined the individual champion

Congratulations to this year’s Math Masters Champion, Chetan J. (7th-grade student from Harmony School of Excellence-Houston), who showed outstanding ability, composure, and precision in the final round! Special thanks to Coach Karaaslan and Coach Alali for their support.

Additional Countdown Round results include Ciana U. (2nd place) from Harmony School of Excellence-Katy MS/HS; and Arjun B. N. and Juan O. (3rd place) from Harmony School of Discovery.

The Top 8 Countdown Round Pre-Quarterfinalists also demonstrated remarkable achievement: Shawn F., Moises C., Anshika B., Sidney G., Reyansh M., Conor C., Daniel B., Jack H.

In the Team Round, 1st place goes to HSE-Houston Team 3: Jack H., Nickolas S., Nathan N., 2nd place goes to HSE-Houston Team 1: Aanya D., Reyansh M., and 3rd place goes to Harmony School of Discovery Team 2: Jasmine H., Kabinsoul S., Bhajkeerat S., Ayaan N.

“Success in math is not just about finding the right answers, it’s about thinking critically, working together and never giving up,” said Cali Nguyen, coordinator of the HPS Houston North Math Masters Competition.
