Harmony School of Excellence–Katy Donates 1,680 Books to Support Young Readers

Building brighter futures one book at a time through generosity, teamwork, and a shared love of reading.

Sometimes, the biggest impact comes from the smallest leaders. At Harmony School of Excellence-Katy, 14 incredible 5th grade GT students turned compassion into action. They rallied their school community and families, collecting an amazing 1,680 books for children across the city.

Their message is simple and powerful: every child deserves a book to call their own.

Books Between Kids is a non-profit organization serving Houston’s at risk children by providing them with books to build their own home libraries.

This non-profit is on a mission to change lives, one book at a time. Too many children in our community don’t have books at home, and since 2012, they have been working to change that by putting books directly into the hands of Houston’s most underserved kids.

Year round, they collect and sort thousands of new and gently loved books, bringing them straight to children across Greater Houston through their vibrant book celebrations and community distributions. Each event is more than just a giveaway, it’s a moment of joy, choice, and empowerment as kids build their very own home libraries.
