Harris County To Host 'Domecoming' Party For Famed Astrodome
Harris County and the Astrodome Conservancy will host a free public event on April 9 to celebrate the Astrodome's 53rd birthday.

HOUSTON, TX — Harris County and the Astrodome Conservancy are hosting a party for the Eighth Wonder of the World on April 9, and everyone is invited.
The party, referred to as the "Domecoming," happens on the dome's 53rd anniversary.
The event is free to the public, but anyone who want's to hang out at the Domecoming and relive old memories will need a ticket to get in and those have to be reserved at Ticketmaster.com.

Gates will open to ticket holders at 4 p.m., and once inside, will be treated to music and entertainment by a DJ and the original AstroNuts, the Houston Chronicle reported.
Attendees will also hear remarks fro Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, who has long advocated to save the aging dome, even when voters approved having the dome demolished.
The county plans to use $105 million from the general fund to transform the Astrodome into a viable event facility with underground parking.
Construction is scheduled to begin in October.
