Houston Early Music Presents Recorder Artist Tabea Debus
March 29 concert will take place at Live Oaks Friends Meeting House in Houston Heights

London-based recorder player Tabea Debus is described as a “charismatic virtuoso” (The Times) and “one of the most exciting young musicians in the early music world” (Classic FM). Now Houston-area audiences will have an opportunity to experience Debus’ talent and vibrant performing style for themselves when Houston Early Music presents Introducing Tabea Debus: Recorder Player Extraordinaire.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Live Oaks Friends Meeting House, 1318 W. 26th St. in the Houston Heights, 77008.
Debus will be accompanied by lutenist Alon Sariel, who is musical director of the international Baroque orchestra Concerto Foscari in Hannover, Germany, and a founding member of the quartet, PRISMA.

“Tabea Debus is a superb musician, and the energy and sheer joy she infuses into her playing make her live stage performances a delight,” said Houston Early Music Artistic and Executive Director Deborah Dunham. “We’re confident that Houston audiences will be captivated by Tabea and the talented Alon Sariel.”
Debus, who constantly explores the horizons of music for recorder, has performed widely across Europe and Asia, along with Colombia and the United States. The award-winning artist is a regular guest on BBC Radio 3’s “In Tune and Early Music Show,” and she has released five solo discs.

In 2019, Debus was a winner of the Concert Artists Guild (CAG) International Competition, and she is now on the CAG roster.
Debus’ American tour, Ohrwurm, explores how popular tunes and dances “wormed their way” into many aspects of music-making in 17th and 18th century Europe.
Sariel, also a mandolinist and conductor, has toured in Asia, Europe, the U.S., Mexico, South America, and South Africa.
