Houston Students Raise Money to Support African Hospital

Big Blue Marble Academy Friendswood Hosts Coin Drive to Support New Mothers and Babies as Part of the Annual Fundraiser

Your local Big Blue Marble Academy Friendswood students spent the last month learning about African culture and raising money to support new mothers and babies at a hospital in Sierra Leone, Africa.

As part of the annual Change for a Change service learning Heart Project, Big Blue Marble Academy students across the country worked to raise money for the Mission of Hope’s Madonna Project at Rotifunk Hospital in Sierra Leone, supporting pre- and post-natal care for mothers and children. The children learn that mothers need healthy food, clean water, and doctors to have healthy and happy babies as well as empathy and the value of giving back to the global community. The students are involved in the project from start to finish including making posters, collecting money, counting money and rolling it into coin containers, and drawing cards for the new mothers visiting the hospital.
